The Future Awards Africa

Temi Marcella Awogboro

I received a call from The Future Project to say I had been shortlisted as a nominee of The Future Africa Awards (TFAA) 2018 while I was in Dubai for work. The Future Awards Africa which has been described by the World Bank as “The Nobel Prize for young Africans” and FORBES International as the “most important youth awards”, is targeted at recognizing young Africans doing incredible work in various fields. It celebrates a new class of innovators, philanthropists, activists, technocrats and creators promoting the shared mission of changing the African narrative.

TFAA Nominees’ Reception at the British Council

In the run up to the awards ceremony, we were hosted The British Council for TFAA Nominees’ reception. The exclusive reception was an opportunity to meet and engage with the rest of the TFAA class of 2018 and their work. I was also presented with my certificate of nomination during the reception.

TFAA Awards Night: Nigeria’s New Tribe

After all the build up, it was finally awards night. The event held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, and had in attendance several leading personalities in government, politics, and business such as the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Minister of Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah; Chairman, First Bank of Nigeria, Ibukun Awosika; CEO, Sahara Group, Tonye Cole; Presidential Candidate, Young Progressive Party, Kingsley Moghalu;  Presidential Candidate, Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, Obiageli Ezekwesili.

I was thrilled to hear my name announced as the winner of the TFAA 2018 Prize for Professional Service – the first award of the evening!! Thankful to everyone who supported me and made it happen.

The Winners’ Look: Golden Goddess

The theme for the evening was “Glam with a Touch of Culture. I opted for a local designer given the Glam with a Touch of Culture theme. As you already know I am big fan of the House of Deola (see my Glamorous Traditional Nigerian Wedding post) and Clan (watch this space for our upcoming collaboration). For TFAA, we re-created Clan’s LUNA dress in an Ombre gold and lace combo.
